The boots were originally red and black. They were painted gold and white with Angelus leather paint. The sewn pieces of this costume were very simple to make, as were the "armored" pieces.
However, the headpiece was a complete mess. As I could not find the correct size of microbeads, the method being used by Saya and Tsukiko would not work for me (and time was running out, so I couldn't keep searching). In the end, my headpiece's texture is drastically different than theirs. My headpiece starts out with a bald cap and has panty hose sewn to that. The panty hose were stuffed with rice to achieve the general shape of the lekku, and then a thin coat of liquid latex was applied to the panty hose. After the liquid latex was dry, I cut a small hole in the panty hose and drained all of the rice out. The lekku shapes were bulked up and made more accurate with lots of duct tape (nothing can't be saved by duct tape, amirite). Next, I covered the duct taped lekku in some pink knit material. Then, I painted a few coats of fiberglass resin onto the fabric, giving it a hard, protective coat. The same body paint I used on myself was also applied to the headpiece for accurate coloring. Due to the cold weather in which I would be wearing this, I had already started deviating from the design by adding leg- and armwarmers, so I decided to go even further and make what became known as the Mother Mary Wedding Veil. XD It is simply material attached to small, bent hanger pieces and attached to the headpiece. Faux leather strips were wrapped around the lekku for added detail.
