I work at a comic store in Norman that also does a lot of their sales in Sanrio. As the unofficial party organizer for the store, I decided that we needed to celebrate Kitty's birthday each year. To take things a step further, I rented out a Hello Kitty mascot costume from the company and decided to make a similar costume to match her. I found a super girly dress in the little girl's section on sale at Dillards. I'm sure it was meant for a 'husky' child, but with a little reconstructing in the chest area it fit fine. The wig was purchased and the ears and bow were sewn from scraps of material and attached to elastic and a clip. The first time I wore the costume, I went so far as to paint my whole face and arms white, draw on the whiskers and paint the yellow nose. It was very frightening, and fortunately I was so busy being a vendor at Izumi Con that day that I have no photo evidence.
