Bio

I'd only ever had one sewing class. In my sixth grade Home Ec we learned to make "quillows." One quillow and a locker caddy later I was hooked. Any excuse to make a costume, I jumped on it. My first convention was a small gathering put on by the Animation Club at the University of Oklahoma. Like any cosplayer in the history of cosplay, my first costume was a Rumiko Takahashi number: Inuyasha. Soon after I got a job at a local comic/anime store in Norman. There I was able to devour as much anime and manga as I could handle and my obsession grew stronger. I began branching out to farther and larger conventions, making not only mine but most of my friend's costumes as well. These days I'm spending more time on the quality of my costumes, less on the speediness and quantity. I still love cosplaying with my non-sewing friends, but I'm trying to teach them to sew instead of doing it all for them.

I still work at the comic store and also teach art at a local art center for children. I also volunteer at the local library, doing sessions on how to make your own comics and manga. Besides cosplay, I love being around children, and my secret wish is that when I one day start teaching art full time, I can sneak a few cosplay tutorial classes in with the standard Picasso and Monet.
