Sewing

Properly pinning and cutting your fabric may seem like a given to experienced cosplayers, but those who are just beginning to join in on the fun should know how to pin and cut in a way that will keep your fabric situated correctly.

Here we demonstrate how to thread a basic sewing machine (a Singer is used in the example, but most sewing machines follow the same pattern). Also, we talk about the various parts of the sewing machine one needs to know in order to properly operate it.

We show how to sew a basic straight stitch.

We show how to sew a zigzag stitch, which is commonly used on stretch fabrics and seam closures (for those without a serger).

Creating a pleated skirt may seem difficult at a glance, but many characters have them, so it's important knowledge to have.




Wigs

Pin curls are used in the theater industry to create an anchor of sorts for your wig, thus minimizing the dreaded wig cap showing when the wig slides back on the forehead.
